Commissions and gifts

A pencil sketch commissioned by one of my teachers.
I wanted to test my accuracy, to ensure the likeness of the child is correct.

During fund raising occasions, I was inspired to create and sell polymer clay charms. This then led me to start 'tiny blessing' where I themed my charms mostly around animals and seasons.
Each charm is roughly 3cm high.

Personal work

T-shirt Prints:

I've attempted to print my designs onto t-shirts using heat transfer.

Computer Graphics:

Experimenting with SAI Paint and Photoshop, I looked to a story surrounding a young girl who made a friend from litters of her history, for example her childhood drawings. I wanted to share the message that friendships, or any relationships, are not always perfect.

Inspired by Monster's University as well as attempting other age groups, I interpreted the character Don Carlton as a human form. I created this using SAI Paint.

Animations:

Extending my skills towards scenery, I was inspired to paint a family of deer watching the morning sun rise using Adobe Photoshop. This then led me to animate snow into the scene using Adobe After Effects.

1st Year Degree: Street Project

I based this project on my experiences at a local graveyard, reflecting on the things I felt and saw.
Flowers were often laid at the graves which inspired me to use the symbolism of the lily and rose. The rose holds a stone texture, embracing the image of a grave stone along with its etchings.
The hands and arms are stained with paint, providing a sense that we all, one day, must face death. The paint also emphasises the formation, for example, the form of a cross.
Here I used photography, paper sculpture, paint and Photoshop.

Within this project I've also attempted Reportage Illustration and Life Drawing which has inspired me to enhance my experience of drawing outside of my comforts.

A Level Fine Art Projects

Final Piece- Catastrophic Events:

Pollution and endangered habitat, the piece puts humans into the position of animals which suffer because of human gain.
This project allowed me to develop as an artist; it was a chance to show expression and to break boundaries since before my work was quite tight and precise.
The painting was then displayed in an exhibition in Digbeth.
I used acrylic on board and the scale was roughly A1.

Final Piece- Nature Project:

This is how I see the nature of woodland creatures; the connection between plant and animal.
Within the lower grounds of the piece are the sweet, timid species like birds or hedgehogs, which I combined with berries and conkers.
The greater spices dominate the center upwards. I wanted to incorporate each creature with personality and purpose, such as the sneaky fox, appearing crooked by it's log form.
I was mostly inspired by Illustrator Chris Shields and artist Josh Keyes.
I used acrylic paint on board.

Sketchbook/ Preparatory work:

During my exploration of the theme 'Nature', I began with looking at the close ups of plants as well as experimenting with drawing techniques such as resist.
Albert Durer and Monet influenced my attention to detail with my close ups as well as considering colour and lighting.
As the project developed, I considered the landscape of the forest. Painter Graham Gercken supported my expressive techniques when painting forests and again considering lighting. He also inspired me to consider colour and contrast within my piece.
Then the project developed towards the animals which inhabit the forest; the contrast between herbivores to carnivores.
Artist Josh Keyes supported my progress of combining the animals with plant life; how the appearance of creatures holds the clue to their origins.

A Level Media Studies: Cover, Poster and Trailer

The Magazine cover, based on the trailer 'Love Note', addresses my target audience of young teenagers and adults who enjoy Romantic Comedies with a Fantasy twist. I referred to the house colors of Empire magazine, such as red, white and black, and considered lighter alternatives of coral red, gold and dark brown therefore supporting the young, light romantic genre of the film. In addition, I considered challenging the conventions of direct address. Looking away gives a suspicious quality, therefore the audience may question what she is hiding from us.

The 'Love Note' Poster reflects the history of the old note book; where one can match make anyone of their choosing into a loving relationship. From top to bottom each moment in time are using hand gestures to show a symbol of love, for example, fiddling with one's hair or a hand on heart. This connotes to the idea that writing in the notebook is also an act of love. The greyscale provides a sense of age and dust; this may reflect how each individual seeks something to excite their dull lives.

'Love Note' is a story themed around a school girl who feels her life is but a repeating cycle, where she feels invisible to the everyday chaos, she seeks her purpose or a chance to make change. Then one day she comes across a notebook which grants the opportunity for the writer to match-make relationships.
In order to give uniqueness I decided to combine the rom-com genre with a sense of magic, that the protagonist is a quiet. shy female who then faces the consequences of her choices, being good or bad.
The Film is 2:07s.
